Preliminary Drawing Update

Making some progress on this picture. I am changing the position of the minotaur somewhat and I feel I might need another predator coming in from the right.

Minotaur Painting

I have been waiting for model reference for the warrior princess that is fending off the minotaur.
I finally had a model show up yesterday and I think we got some good poses.
Here's the model I built to use as reference for the interior of the dungeon we are in.

Here's my charcoal preliminary drawing so far with just the minotaur. I decided after more research that my minotaur will just have the head of a bull. If anyone sees this and thinks it might look more interesting with bull legs as well let me know.
Today I am going to put my Warrior Princess into the drawing as well as the interior dungeon walls.

Ideas for new painting

Here's some sketches and a maquette I've been making for a new picture I'm planning to do. The idea was generated by my participating in an exercise called Art By Committee, a group sketch game that James Gurney hosts on his incredible blog Gurney Journey.
James Gurney is the accomplished illustrator of the Dinotopia series of books. He is an incredible painter and is extremely generous in sharing his knowledge of art on his blog.

Life Drawing

Here's some sketches I did from the costumed model last night at the Kline
Academy. The model is Marissa Gomez as a Pin Up Sailor Girl.

I've been working with a cool new Pen. It's called the Pentel Pocket Brush pen.

It really works well. The ink flows just as if you were painting from a brush dipped into ink. The lighter tones are brushed in with a faber -Castell grey value brush pen.

Landscape Sketch- Alley Scene

Here's a little sketch I did yesterday afternoon off of a "walk street" in Venice. It is painted in Gouache. I think today I will do one in oil.
