Painting start

I came up with the idea to change the lower right figures to Satyrs at the last minute.
I laid this painting in today in a thin wash, kinda like J. Gurney suggests to begin an imaginative scene. Looking forward to continuing tomorrow. Life Drawing tonight!

It's looking great, man! There's so much planning that goes into each painting, but it looks like it's really paying off. I love the pushed scale, there's a real feeling of menace.

I love your studio as well as this painting. i am currently painting in the living room and find it depressing, as well as puts me on edge given that i'm worried about paint on the carpet.

anyway, i love this painting. James Gurney is a genius, isn't he? love that guy!
